How Karat calculates

Karat does not compute an opinion. This page shows every number that goes into your price and your signal, with today's values.
How the world price becomes your price
Gold has one world price. What you pay comes after that: the exchange rate, your country's tax and the dealer's premium.
Pick your country in the settings and Karat will compute this section with your own values.
How the signal is built
Three numbers, all verifiable, all in your currency. A signal in dollars would be wrong for half the world, because gold in lira behaves differently than gold in dollars.
The three numbers become a score between −100 and +100. A signal only fires when it reaches one end. How far out, you decide with the sensitivity.
The proof sits in the chart
Every past signal stays visible in the history. You can check whether they were any good. That is worth more than any promise.
Where the numbers come from
Gold and silver price
Metal price service, every few minutes during market hours. History since 2012 from the same source.
Exchange rates
European Central Bank, daily. Intraday from the same source as the metal price.
Taxes, duties and premiums
Our own table, maintained country by country. We review it quarterly; every row carries its check date.
What Karat cannot do
Karat does not know individual dealers or daily quotes. The premium is a typical range, not a price. And Karat does not say what the price will do tomorrow. Nobody knows that.
Karat shows prices and signals. It is not investment advice.
